The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has issued a red alert for Mr. Haren Kumar Damji Madavia, who is suspected to be part of a syndicate involved in defrauding traders across the country.

The DCI is urging the public to provide evidence of falling victim to Mr. Damji’s fraudulent activities without disclosing the identities of the victims.

These cases of obtaining goods by false pretenses are particularly challenging to prosecute as they often occur within close-knit trade communities or social groups, making it difficult to gather sufficient evidence for prosecution.

These economic crimes primarily target importers and manufacturers and involve significant amounts of money. The police have gathered evidence linking Mr. Damji to a series of offenses committed nationwide, adding to the gravity of the situation.

In an appeal to the victims, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations is encouraging them to report their cases to the Officer in Charge of the Economic and Commercial Crime Unit at DCI Headquarters, Block ‘B,’ Ground Floor No.12. This step is crucial to enable the police to proceed with the necessary investigations and subsequent prosecution.

It is worth noting that Mr. Haren Kumar Damji has already been arraigned in court and released on bond, indicating the seriousness with which law enforcement authorities are treating this matter.

The DCI’s red alert aims to raise awareness among the public and elicit any incriminating evidence that can strengthen the case against Mr. Damji.

By actively involving potential victims, the DCI hopes to gather the necessary information to bring this syndicate to justice and protect traders from falling prey to such fraudulent activities in the future.
