A UDA politician who also presides as a pastor of a Nairobi church James Wanjohi Njoroge has been embroiled in a car theft case since 2020.

The youthful pastor was charged with stealing a motor vehicle worth Ksh3 Million and is now seeking to settle the case out of court.

In the 2020 case, Wanjohi now wants the court to halt his trial as he seeks to settle the matter with the complainant.

In this case, he is charged together with Kevin Brain Amolo.

Wanjohi and Amolo were charged that on November 6, 2020, in Nairobi, jointly with others not before the court, stole a motor vehicle make of Mercedes Benz white in color valued at Ksh 3.2M, the property of Juvenia Lydia Mapilele Cohen.

When the matter came for mention before Magistrate Gilbert O.Shikwe, the court prosecutor requested for more time saying that Wanjohi had informed him that they had already started negotiations and settlement with the complainant to try and settle the matter out of court.

The magistrate set November 11, 2022 as the day when the court will confirm the progress or taking of the hearing dates.

The prosecution asked the court for more time to give the negotiations a chance.

Wanjohi, who also owns a church in Roysambu, vied for the area Parliamentary seat on UDA ticket in the August 2022 elections but lost to current MP Kamande Mwafrika during April nominations.
