City lawyer Danstan Omari has has publicly clashed with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna on whether Cabinet Secretaries should appear before the senate for questioning and scrutiny.
The disagreement came barely minutes after Senator Sifuna accused Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi of failing to appear before the senate to answer some queries under his docket even after he alledgly received summons from the Senate.
” I’ m shocked that Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi appeared on Citizen TV before the yesterday’s Semi-Final match and blatantly refused to appear before the Senate as required. The CS also used his time to attend some public rallies of his choice. John Mbadi should know that we are not happy with him ” Sifuna said.
Sifuna went ahead and dismissed the broad based government arrangements saying that he does not subscribe to its ideologies. The broad based government was formed between President William Ruto and opposition Chief Raila Odinga.
” I don’t recognise this monster called broad-based government… CS John Mbadi has all the time to attend rallies where he tells lies about economic growth but snubs senate summons,” he said.
In a courageous respond, his arch rival in the next polls , Vibrant Lawyer Danstan Omari dismissed his claims and called him out.
He adviced Sifuna that Cabinet Secretaries lacked incencitives to appear before the senate.
Omari who has already announced his bid to unseat Sifuna said that the Cabinet members face no problems for ignoring the senate’s summons.
” Cabinet members have no incentive to appear before the Senate; they face no consequences for ignoring summons, shielded as they are by the House, the Executive, and political parties that conceal their dirty laundry,” Said Omari
Yesterday in a radio show, Omari maintained that he was still in the race to unseat incumbent Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna. He outlined his manifestos and revealed that all was set for his campaign team to hit the ground. Already some trucks with his campaign materials have been spotted in Nairobi
