MUA Insurance CEO, Ms. Lydia W.W. Kibaara, has threatened to sue Nation Media Group over what she terms as defamatory publications carried on the company’s Business Daily platform.
In a strongly worded demand letter dated September 30, 2025, and issued by Danstan Omari & Associates Advocates, Ms. Kibaara accuses the Business Daily of publishing false and damaging claims that have injured her reputation. The letter demands an immediate retraction, apology, and assurance against further defamatory coverage.
The lawyers describe Ms. Kibaara as an accomplished Kenyan professional with 27 years of experience in the insurance industry, having risen through the ranks at Britam before serving in senior management roles at Jubilee Insurance, including as Group Head of Medical Insurance and Chief Operating Officer. They emphasize her clean professional record, respect among peers, and her role as a mentor and community leader.
“Beyond her professional life, our client is a mother, a committed Catholic, and an active member of her local church and community,” the letter notes, portraying her as a role model whose integrity has been unjustly attacked.
The law firm insists that unless Nation Media issues a full retraction and apology, legal proceedings will be initiated for defamation.
Nation Media Group, which publishes the Daily Nation and Business Daily, is yet to respond to the claims.
If the matter proceeds to court, it could spark a high-profile battle between one of Kenya’s leading media houses and a top executive in the insurance sector.
