Chaos at Lumakanda Police Station as Crowd Protests Principal’s Death

Tension ran high in Lumakanda, Lugari Sub-County, on Saturday evening after a crowd of residents and students stormed Lumakanda Police Station to protest the death of Munyuki Secondary School Principal.

The late Simon Isiaho Shange body had earlier been recovered from the Kipkaren River.

According to police reports, the angry crowd , made up of residents from Munyuki area and students from Munyuki Secondary, marched to the station demanding answers surrounding the circumstances of the principal’s death.

Upon arrival, the group turned rowdy and began pelting stones at the police station, shattering several window panes.

In the unrest, the angry mob also damaged the rooftop of a white Toyota Premio belonging to the Station Commander.

Efforts by the Sub County Police Commander to calm the crowd proved unsuccessful, prompting officers to deploy minimum force, including tear gas, to disperse the rioters.

Police confirmed that no injuries were reported on either side during the confrontation, and normalcy has since been restored.

Officers remain on high alert as investigations continue.
