A businessman from Ainamoi, Kericho, was on Friday afternoon abducted and robbed of Shs350,000 in a daring daylight attack along the Kericho–Kunyak road.
David Chepkwony Rotich, a coffee dealer operating within Kunyak area in Kipkelion West, had just withdrawn the money from ABSA Bank in Kericho town at around 3:45pm when his vehicle was blocked by a white Toyota Premio whose registration details he could not capture.
According to a police,five masked men emerged from the Premio, forced Rotich out of his car, and bundled him into theirs.
The attackers handcuffed him and robbed him of the money and his Samsung A32 mobile phone valued at Shs. 32,000.
The victim told police that the suspects threatened to inject him with an unknown substance, although he did not see a syringe or any other weapon besides the handcuffs used to restrain him.
The gang later dumped him at Kapsuser area, where he was found unharmed.
Police in Kericho East have launched investigations, with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCIO) handling the case.
The suspects and the getaway vehicle remain at large.
Police have urged members of the public with any information to report to the nearest police station.
