The political temperature in Kibera is rising as the man popularly known as the Kibera CEO steps up his efforts to “capture Kibera,” drawing mixed reactions from residents and stakeholders across the constituency.
While some locals believe he is “God-sent” and destined for leadership, others argue he must be more physically present on the ground if he hopes to fill the shoes of the late MP Ken Okoth, a widely admired figure in the area.
“He has been showing up through proxies. We want to see him ourselves,” said a resident from Katwekera. “How will we know his face if the good man doesn’t turn up? We want the CEO in person.”
Over recent weeks, the CEO has become increasingly visible through numerous charitable activities. His initiatives—ranging from bursaries to housing support—have stirred conversations across villages in Kibera. Many residents who spoke to this publication say he is currently in pole position to unseat the incumbent MP in the 2027 contest.
“You see, I hear that the man—the CEO—is giving bursaries, giving houses, and his foundation, Ommoh Homes, is doing the unthinkable. That is the person we want,” said another resident impressed by his philanthropic record.
Beyond local admiration, influential stakeholders are also showing interest. A senior official from a prominent NGO operating in Kibera expressed optimism about partnering with the CEO should he clinch the parliamentary seat.
“Once the CEO is elected, we are going to work closely with him to change lives,” he said. “I pray that you vote for him in the 2027 polls.”
As the election season draws nearer, the CEO’s rising popularity and growing public expectations are shaping what is likely to become one of the most closely watched political races in Nairobi.
