Nicholus Okach, CEO of Omoh Homes, has called on President William Ruto to fulfil his Sh170 billion road project pledge, saying the initiative is key to Kenya’s development and a chance for the President to redeem his public image.
Speaking on Wednesday, Okach emphasized that good roads are vital for national growth, safety, and economic development. “Well-constructed roads reduce accidents, make transportation easier, lower transport costs, and connect remote areas to essential services. This project can transform our economy, attract investment, and improve the quality of life for all Kenyans,” he said.
Okach noted that while President Ruto has accomplished a number of initiatives, some of his previous unfulfilled promises have tainted public trust. “This is a critical opportunity for the President to show that pledges can become reality. Delivering this road project would not only enhance connectivity but also mark a significant step towards Kenya becoming a first-world country,” he added.
According to Okach, the benefits of the road go beyond travel convenience. He explained that it is expected to reduce road accidents through improved design and maintenance, facilitate faster movement of goods and people, boosting trade and commerce, improve access to hospitals, schools, and other essential services, especially in rural areas, stimulate local and foreign investment by creating reliable infrastructure, and spur economic growth and regional development, opening up previously isolated areas.
Okach urged the government and all stakeholders to ensure that the project is executed transparently, on time, and maintained properly. He warned that delays or poor-quality work could undermine both public trust and the potential economic benefits.
The Sh170 billion road project is seen by many analysts as a transformative initiative that could catalyze nationwide development, reduce logistical bottlenecks, and enhance Kenya’s position as a growing economic hub in East Africa.
