EXCLUSIVE: Baitul Hikma Integrated International School in Parklands a death trap for learners, Teachers

Baitul Hikma Integrated International School, A school that operates in Nairobi’s upscale Parklands area has come under scrutiny amid growing concerns over the safety of learners and teachers following rapid expansion that residents claim may have outpaced critical safety considerations.

Ironically the school itself is constructed on the Riparian Land and it has a poor sewarage system, no playing field among other disturbing issues.

Located on Taza Lane off City Park Drive, the contraversial school is now at the center of questions being raised by members of the Parklands Residents Association and concerned residents who are calling for urgent inspections by relevant government agencies.

” We want the Ministry of Education alongside the Interior Ministry to move with speed and inspect this school for the safety of learners and even the teachers, its better the government prevents a calamity from occuring,” said a Resident from Parklands.

The concerns come as Kenyans continue to seek answers following the tragic Utumishi Academy fire, a disaster that reignited national debate on the state of safety standards in learning institutions.

According to residents,
the school, which reportedly began operations in 2024 from a single residential house, has experienced significant growth and now hosts hundreds of learners and members of staff.

Some residents have questioned whether the institution’s facilities, including classrooms and boarding sections, can adequately guarantee the safety and welfare of learners in the event of an emergency.

Additionally, questions have emerged regarding developments said to have been undertaken near the Mathare River hence affecting the Riparian Land.

Critics are calling on environmental and county authorities to establish whether all necessary approvals were obtained and whether the developments comply with existing regulations.

According to some verifiable Public records, the institution operates under a limited liability company structure.

Residents are now claiming that individuals associated with the school occupy influential positions in public service and government, although no evidence has been presented suggesting any wrongdoing on their part.

Efforts to acquire comments from Hon. Umulkher Harun were unsuccessful at the time of publishing this report.
