Back Like Never Before: Kibra CEO Returns to the Ground as Orero fumbles with shrinking popularity

Popular Kibra l Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has made a dramatic return to the constituency after spending three months in the United States on a benchmarking mission focused on slum modernization, urban renewal, and sustainable community development.

The CEO, who held a series of meetings with development partners, urban planners, investors, and community organizations in Louisiana and other parts of the United States, landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Wednesday evening, where he was received by supporters and some residents who were eager to hear about his plans for Kibra.

In recent months, the CEO has empowered the youths, elderly and supported some programmes for school going children.

Speaking to the press shortly after his arrival, the CEO said the trip had equipped him with practical ideas and international partnerships that could help transform Kibra into a model constituency.

“I have returned home energized, inspired, and more determined than ever before. For the last three months, I have had the opportunity to interact with some of the world’s leading experts in urban planning, affordable housing, youth empowerment, sanitation management, and community development,” he added that. ” What I have seen and learned confirms that Kibra has the potential to become one of the most modern, organized, and economically vibrant constituencies in Kenya if we embrace innovation, accountability, and visionary leadership.”
He added:

He went on , ” My mission has always been to uplift the lives of Kibra residents. During my stay in the United States, I engaged development partners who are willing to support transformative projects in housing, education, digital innovation, environmental conservation, and youth entrepreneurship. The conversations we had were productive, and I am confident that the benefits will soon be felt back home.”

The CEO further said that Kibra had remained behind despite its strategic location within Nairobi, arguing that residents deserve better services and development opportunities.

“It pains me to see a constituency with such immense talent, resilience, and potential continue struggling with challenges that can be solved through proper planning and responsible leadership. Kibra should not merely be known as Africa’s largest informal settlement. It should be known as a centre of innovation, business growth, cultural excellence, and opportunity. That is the vision I am bringing back from my international engagements.”

Without directly naming political rivals, the CEO appeared to criticize the current state of affairs in the constituency, saying leadership should focus on delivering results rather than engaging in endless political battles.

“The people of Kibra are tired of empty rhetoric and endless blame games. They want solutions. They want jobs for their youth, quality education for their children, decent housing, better roads, improved healthcare, and a clean environment. My focus is not on political distractions but on delivering practical solutions that improve people’s lives. The future of Kibra cannot be built on propaganda; it must be built on action.”

He pledged to embark on a series of grassroots engagements across all wards to gather views from residents and develop a people-driven transformation agenda.

“Over the coming weeks, I will be meeting youth groups, women organizations, religious leaders, traders, professionals, and community elders across Kibra. Development is not about one individual; it is about listening to the people and working together. I am back on the ground, and I am back like never before. The journey toward a transformed Kibra starts now.”

His return is expected to reignite political and development conversations within the constituency as residents closely watch the unfolding battle of ideas ahead of future leadership contests.

Supporters have described his comeback as timely, expressing optimism that the international exposure and partnerships he acquired could help unlock new opportunities for the constituency.
