Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has inspected ongoing construction of the Sh249 million Bahati Modern Market and a Sh3.1 billion affordable housing project in Nakuru County as the government steps up investment in infrastructure and urban development.
Kindiki addressed thousands of residents in Bahati on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, after inspecting the two projects, which are expected to expand trading opportunities and increase access to affordable housing.
The housing project comprises 1,167 units, while the modern market is part of the government’s efforts to improve facilities for traders and support local economic activity.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Kindiki said ongoing road construction and other development projects would boost Nakuru County’s economy.
He cited the dualling of the 223-kilometre Rironi–Mau Summit highway and the tarmacking of 870 kilometres of priority roads as key infrastructure investments expected to improve connectivity and facilitate trade.
The Deputy President also highlighted government allocations of Sh38 billion for roads, Sh47 billion for markets and affordable housing projects, and Sh3 billion for rural electrification.
He said the allocations demonstrated the government’s commitment to equitable development across the country.
“Usawa ni Sawa,” Kindiki said, using the slogan associated with the government’s development agenda.
The inspection comes as the government continues to promote affordable housing, modern markets, road construction and electricity connectivity as part of its broader development programme.
