Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has inspected the ongoing Bahati Affordable Housing Project in Nakuru County, which is being implemented in two phases at a combined cost of more than Sh3.6 billion.
The project comprises 220 housing units under Phase One, valued at Sh504 million, and another 1,067 houses under Phase Two, which is expected to cost Sh3.1 billion.
Kindiki inspected the construction works in Bahati Constituency on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, as the government continues to expand its affordable housing programme.
According to the Deputy President, the Bahati project has created employment opportunities for 700 workers involved in its implementation.
He added that approximately 1.1 million people nationwide were employed through various projects financed under the Housing Fund.
The affordable housing programme is part of the government’s broader plan to increase access to decent housing while creating jobs in the construction sector.
The two phases in Bahati are expected to deliver a combined 1,287 housing units once completed, expanding the supply of affordable homes in Nakuru County.
The project also reflects the government’s strategy of using housing development to support employment and stimulate economic activity in different parts of the country.
