Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has inspected the ongoing construction of the Sh249 million Bahati Modern Market in Nakuru County as the government rolls out modern trading facilities to support small-scale traders.
The market is one of three modern markets planned for Bahati Constituency, with the others located in Kabatini and Dundori.
Kindiki inspected the construction works on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, as part of his tour of development projects in the constituency.
Across Nakuru County, 25 markets are currently under construction, while four others are planned, according to the Deputy President.
The ongoing market projects are expected to cost a combined Sh2.3 billion, while the four planned markets will require an additional Sh715 million.
The investments are aimed at improving trading infrastructure and providing traders with better working environments to support business growth.
The Bahati Modern Market is among the government’s broader efforts to expand access to organised markets and stimulate economic activity at the grassroots level.
The inspection came alongside Kindiki’s visit to the Bahati Affordable Housing Project, which is being implemented in two phases at a combined cost of more than Sh3.6 billion.
