Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged Kenyans to promote peace and unity, warning against treating politics as a matter of life and death.
Kindiki said political competition should not divide citizens or undermine peaceful coexistence, calling on leaders and their supporters to embrace unity despite their political differences.
The Deputy President made the remarks in Matangi, Juja Constituency, Kiambu County, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, during the launch of the construction of the 14-kilometre Kimbo-Matangi-Gwa Kairu Road, which is expected to cost Sh1.2 billion.
His message came amid continuing political competition ahead of the 2027 General Election, with leaders across the political divide seeking to consolidate support in different regions.

Kindiki emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and cohesion, urging Kenyans to avoid turning political disagreements into personal or community conflicts.
The Deputy President’s remarks came as the government highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects in Kiambu County, including road construction, housing, markets and rural electrification.
During the same address, Kindiki said the government had prioritised 1,656 kilometres of roads for tarmacking in Kiambu at a cost of Sh152 billion, with 368 kilometres already completed at a cost of Sh20 billion.
He was accompanied by Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo, Kiambu Woman Representative Anne Wamuratha, Juja MP George Koimburi, Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a and Gatundu North MP Elijah Kururia, among other leaders.
Kindiki’s call for peace and unity placed the emphasis on peaceful political engagement as the country approaches the next election cycle.
