Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said 368 kilometres of roads in Kiambu County have been completed under a government programme targeting 1,656 kilometres for tarmacking at a cost of Sh152 billion.

Kindiki said the completed roads had cost Sh20 billion, with the remaining projects expected to expand the county’s road network as the government continues implementing its infrastructure programme.

Speaking in Matangi, Juja Constituency, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the Deputy President said several road projects were underway across the county, including the newly launched Kimbo-Matangi-Gwa Kairu Road.

The 14-kilometre road is expected to cost Sh1.2 billion and is among the projects intended to improve connectivity within Juja and neighbouring areas.

Kindiki also said tarmacking of the Ndarugo-Nyacaba-Kimuchu Road, which connects Juja and Thika town, was set to begin.

Meanwhile, the 25-kilometre Juja-Juja Farm-Munyu-Komo-A3 Garissa Road Junction had reached 50 per cent completion, with the project costing Sh1.7 billion.

Beyond Kiambu, the Deputy President highlighted major national road projects, including the ongoing dualling of the 223-kilometre Rironi-Mau Summit Road, valued at Sh200 billion.

He also said the dualling of the Muthaiga-Kiambu Town/Ndumberi Road, estimated to cost Sh29 billion, was expected to begin soon.

Kindiki further announced that construction of a new Thika-Nairobi Expressway would be launched under a public-private partnership arrangement.

The road projects form part of the government’s broader infrastructure programme, with the Kiambu allocation covering a substantial network of roads earmarked for tarmacking.

However, the figures announced by Kindiki did not include a breakdown of the remaining road projects by constituency, their individual costs or their expected completion dates.

The Deputy President was accompanied by ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo, Kiambu Woman Representative Anne Wamuratha, Juja MP George Koimburi, Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a and Gatundu North MP Elijah Kururia, among other leaders.
