Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called on political leaders to abandon the politics of nicknames and focus on development, saying political engagement should prioritise issues that improve the lives of Kenyans.

Kindiki said leaders should shift their attention from political rhetoric and personal attacks to development projects and initiatives that address the needs of citizens.

Speaking in Matangi, Juja Constituency, Kiambu County, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the Deputy President urged politicians to concentrate on service delivery rather than political exchanges.

His remarks came during the launch of the construction of the 14-kilometre Kimbo-Matangi-Gwa Kairu Road, a project expected to cost Sh1.2 billion.

“We should stop politics of hatred ,name calling ,we should focus on development and promotion of unity across the region,”Kindiki said.

Kindiki also highlighted the government’s broader infrastructure programme in Kiambu County, where 1,656 kilometres of roads have been prioritised for tarmacking at a cost of Sh152 billion.

He said 368 kilometres of the targeted roads had already been completed at a cost of Sh20 billion.

Other projects highlighted during the visit included the Ndarugo-Nyacaba-Kimuchu Road, which connects Juja and Thika town, and the Juja-Juja Farm-Munyu-Komo-A3 Garissa Road Junction, which was reported to be 50 per cent complete.

The Deputy President further pointed to major road infrastructure projects, including the ongoing dualling of the Rironi-Mau Summit Road and plans to begin the dualling of the Muthaiga-Kiambu Town/Ndumberi Road.
