CFAO Mobility Kenya today announced a comprehensive sponsorship and development package of KES 48,535,200 to support the organization and success of the 2026 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally.
This investment further reinforces CFAO’s commitment to developing motorsport in Kenya, with total contributions exceeding KES 153 million over the past six years.
The partnership also strengthens Toyota’s legacy in rallying, boasting 12 championship titles across multiple eras, including Group B and the current WRC Hybrid.
During the official cheque handover, Arvinder Reel, Managing Director of CFAO Mobility Kenya, highlighted the company’s dedication to grassroots motorsport development:
“Our commitment goes beyond sponsorship. We are investing in the growth of motorsports and will continue to champion initiatives that nurture young talent and elevate Kenya’s rally standing on the global stage.”
Investing in the Safari Rally Training School
The sponsorship coincides with CFAO Mobility’s major investment in the Safari Rally Training School Project. Two FIA-approved Toyota Starlet rally cars, developed with Kenyan engineers and built to FIA Rally 5 standards at a cost of KES 34.5 million, were donated to the project and officially handed over to the President of Kenya at State House, highlighting the nation’s commitment to motorsport development.
In addition, CFAO Mobility has developed a prototype Cross Car for junior drivers aged 12 to 17, constructed to FIA standards at KES 3.7 million. For the first time in Kenya, this vehicle will provide a structured pathway for grassroots talent to progress into competitive rallying.
“We have partnered with South Africa’s Botterill Motor Sport to develop a rally training curriculum. Training camps for local drivers and navigators will be held, and the curriculum handed over to the Safari Rally Secretariat to ensure the programme continues beyond the rally,” Reel added.
Global Stars and Fan Engagement
CFAO Mobility hosted an exclusive meet-and-greet with drivers from the Toyota Gazoo Racing Team (TGR), delighting fans. Attendees included Elfyn Evans, 2025 Safari Rally winner and current WRC championship leader; Samo Pajari; a 24-year-old rising Kenyan talent; and legendary Juha Kankkunen, 1985 Safari Rally winner and Deputy Team Principal.
Principal Secretary for the State Department of Sports, Mr. Elijah Mwangi, praised CFAO Mobility Kenya:
“Their donation of two Toyota Starlets, development of the Rally Academy training curriculum, and production of Kenya’s first affordable FIA Cross Car are key steps toward building local motorsport talent and technical capacity. Collaboration with TVETA can further strengthen skills development and expand local production in the sector.”
Toyota Hilux: A Symbol of Performance and Reliability
Mr. Reel also highlighted the Toyota Hilux’s continued role as the “double zero” and “triple zero” opening cars, emphasizing its quality, durability, and reliability.
Through strategic investment in sponsorship, youth programs, and technical innovation, CFAO Mobility Kenya is nurturing the next generation of rally champions, advancing motorsport technology, and strengthening Kenya’s presence on the global rally stage.
