Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin has extended his condolences to Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, following the passing of his father, Mzee Weston Kirocho Kanja.
Amin visited the Inspector General at his home on Monday evening, where he offered words of comfort and solidarity to the grieving family. Mzee Kanja passed away on October 14, 2025.
In a message shared on social media platform X, Amin described the loss as a moment of deep sorrow for the National Police Service, expressing heartfelt sympathy on behalf of the entire DCI fraternity.
“The Director, together with the entire DCI fraternity, extends heartfelt condolences and stands in solidarity with the Inspector General and his family during this difficult time. We are united in mourning their loss and offer our deepest sympathies as they navigate this challenging period,” the message read.
The burial of Mzee Kanja is scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the family home in Thome Village, Matanya Sub-location, Tigithi Location in Laikipia County.
Amin assured the Inspector General of the continued support and prayers from the DCI and broader police service community as the family prepares to lay their patriarch to rest.
The condolence visit came at a time when the country is still in a period of national mourning following the burial of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who was laid to rest on Sunday, October 19, at his Opoda Farm in Bondo, Siaya County.
