Detectives have distanced themselves from claims that they are investigating a prominent Kibra-based CEO, instead turning the spotlight on fresh allegations facing Kibra MP Peter Orero.
Speaking to sources familiar with the matter, officers dismissed reports linking the businessman to any ongoing probe, terming him “a person of no interest” to investigative agencies.
“Who is he? We have no interest in him whatsoever,” said a detective aware of the investigations. “However, we have received communication indicating that Hon. Peter Orero is the one under active scrutiny.”
The detective further disclosed that attempts had allegedly been made to drag the CEO into controversy using questionable claims.
“Some individuals visited the station alleging that the CEO is a fraudster. After conducting preliminary investigations, we established that the information provided was false and misleading,” he added.
According to insiders, the developments point to a broader scheme aimed at tarnishing the CEO’s reputation amid his rising influence within Kibra and beyond.
Sources suggest that the businessman’s growing popularity, particularly among youth and grassroots networks, may have unsettled political interests.
“It is clear there is a calculated attempt to blackmail and intimidate emerging voices,” another officer stated. “We are seeing a pattern where false complaints are being weaponized to settle political scores.”
Attention has now shifted to Peter Orero, who is reportedly under investigation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over a series of serious allegations, including fraud, forgery, and irregular award of tenders.
A source within the anti-graft body confirmed that a formal file has been opened and action taken.
“Yes, we have his file. Summons have already been issued to him and members of his team,” the source revealed. “They are facing possible forgery charges, including allegations of forging the CEO’s signature. We are also probing claims of corruption involving the embezzlement of NG-CDF funds and irregular procurement processes.”
The source added that investigators are particularly interested in alleged links between the MP and companies said to have benefited from lucrative tenders.
“There are serious questions on conflict of interest and abuse of office. Some of the tenders under review appear to have been awarded to individuals closely associated with him, including family members,” the source said.
Meanwhile, individuals close to the CEO have maintained that he has been the target of sustained harassment and malicious propaganda orchestrated by political rivals.
“This is not just about business anymore; it is about silencing a voice that is gaining the trust of the people,” said an associate. “He has built his name through hard work, and now that influence is being challenged through underhand tactics.”
Despite the mounting controversy, detectives insist their focus remains on credible complaints backed by evidence.
“We deal with facts, not politics,” the detective emphasized. “At the moment, there is nothing linking the CEO to any criminal activity. Our investigations are guided strictly by the law.”
As investigations intensify, pressure continues to mount on Peter Orero to respond to the allegations, with observers noting that the unfolding developments could have far-reaching political implications within Kibra constituency.
