Kenya Launches Africa’s First AI Spam Alert Service to Boost Digital Trust

ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has said the government is committed to ensuring that all Kenyans can access digital services safely. He emphasized that this is crucial in building trust and promoting the growth of digital service usage across the country.

Mr. Kabogo noted that simply enacting laws is not enough. The government must continue working with technology companies to ensure the digital space is safe for everyone.

He pointed out that many Kenyans have previously lost money after being deceived by spam messages into sharing personal details or making fraudulent payments.

He made these remarks during the launch of Airtel’s new AI Spam Alert service. This is the first service of its kind in Africa and is designed to protect Airtel users from spam messages.

Kabogo praised Airtel for selecting Kenya as the first country to roll out this important service, saying it demonstrates Kenya’s leadership in digital progress both regionally and globally.

The Cabinet Secretary pledged that the government will continue to support innovations and technologies that help grow the digital economy.

He stressed that enhancing online safety is key to building a robust digital future for Kenya.

Also present at the event were the Director General of the Communications Authority, David Mugonyi, Airtel Kenya CEO Ashish Malhotra, and other key players in the ICT sector.
