Lawyer Peter Wanyama has officially declared that he will be contesting for the Law Society of Kenya(LSK) Presidency for the second time in the next polls.
Wanyama, who narrowly lost to incumbent LSK President Faith Odhiambo, announced his bid through his official Facebook page, where he said that his decision was reached after he successfully consulted over 5000 advocates who ordered him to complete the race.
He said that, being a true democrat was the first Presidential Candidate to concede defeat in the 2023 polls, but insisted that he was now ready to clinch the LSK Presidency.
” In the 2023 LSK election for President, I submitted a bid, put in great effort, but emerged runner-up. It was an intense election, which, as a true democrat, was the first candidate to concede,” said Wanyama.
He, however, said that despite encountering defeat in the last polls, most members today believe that his Manifesto was the best and would have completely changed the lives of advocates in the country.
” Despite the loss, our message for a strategic, purposeful, and strong bar/ LSK continues to resonate with the majority of members who have asked me to complete the race. For the past 1 year, I have consulted more than 5000 lawyers at a personal level. Their near-unanimous decision/verdict is that I should complete the race. Therefore, I formally announce that I have accepted their message and will vie for LSK President for 2026-2028 term,” said Wanyama.
He added that, ” The elections involve professional colleagues who have asked it to be ethical and member-driven. In essence, they need an LSK President who will prioritise core practice issues, strengthen the bar, and the rule of law,” he said.
