Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti on Tuesday presided over the graduation of the second cohort of the Machakos Youth Service, a key milestone in the county’s youth empowerment agenda.
Building on the success of the first cohort, the second intake admitted 1,700 youths from all 40 wards, reflecting the growing impact and reach of the program. The event, attended by proud parents and guardians, was hailed as a transformative step in providing young people with skills and opportunities for personal and economic growth.
Following the pass-out, the youths will transition to the county’s Vocational Training Centres for fully sponsored three-month skills programs in areas including Electrical & Electronics, Culinary Arts, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Plumbing, Masonry, Welding, Cosmetology, Fashion & Design, and Event Management & DJ.
Governor Ndeti noted that participants will also gain practical experience and opportunities for income generation before sitting for NITA examinations to earn nationally recognized certifications.
“My administration remains committed to investing in our youth, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to thrive and succeed,” Governor Ndeti said.
The program underscores Machakos County’s continued focus on youth development as a pathway to sustainable economic growth and social empowerment.
