Oduk Rallies Lang’ata Behind Raila’s Legacy, Backs Winnie Odinga for MP

Lang’ata businessman and politician Johnson Oduk has intensified his defense of the legacy of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, urging residents of Lang’ata to stand firm in safeguarding the ideals that defined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Speaking during grassroots engagements across the constituency, Oduk expressed deep concern over what he termed as attempts to dilute ODM’s founding principles ahead of the upcoming National Delegates Conference (NDC).

He maintained that the party must remain anchored on reform, inclusivity and social justice — values he says Raila championed throughout his decades-long political journey.
Raila, a central figure in Kenya’s democratic struggle, built ODM into one of the country’s most formidable political movements. From his push for multiparty democracy to his tenure as Prime Minister, his political influence has shaped national discourse for years. Oduk argues that protecting that legacy is not optional but a responsibility for every loyal supporter.

In a bold political move, Oduk has vehemently called on Lang’ata residents to rally behind Winnie Odinga for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat, describing her as a natural torchbearer of her father’s vision. According to Oduk, Winnie represents generational continuity, progressive leadership and unwavering commitment to the people.

“Lang’ata must lead by example,” Oduk declared at a recent consultative forum.

“Supporting Winnie is not just about politics — it is about preserving the values of sacrifice, reform and people-centered leadership that Baba stood for.”

He emphasized that Winnie’s involvement in youth empowerment and grassroots mobilization positions her uniquely to address the constituency’s economic and social challenges. Oduk urged voters to unite behind her candidacy, insisting that fragmentation would only weaken the constituency’s voice in national politics.

Political observers note that Oduk’s endorsement signals early realignments within Lang’ata’s political landscape. As the NDC approaches and succession debates intensify within ODM, Oduk’s stance is likely to influence grassroots dynamics, reinforcing Raila’s enduring footprint while shaping the future of leadership in Lang’ata.
