Omoh Foundation CEO Nicholus Okach to Critics, Sorry we are soldiering on to Liberate the Kibra people

Omoh Foundation Chief Executive Officer Nicholus Okach has strongly condemned what he described as reckless, misleading and malicious attacks by a section of Kibra politicians, accusing them of engaging in propaganda and name-calling instead of addressing the real problems facing residents of the informal settlement.

In a press statement released to the media early today following the recent Jamhuri Day celebrations, Okach took issue with remarks in which some politicians allegedly branded him a “mhuni” and claimed that he would misuse Constituency Development Fund (CDF) resources if elected to public office among other unprofessional words.

“These claims are outright false and deliberately crafted to mislead the public while undermining genuine community-driven efforts that have uplifted the lives of Kibera residents,” Okach said, terming the remarks irresponsible and unbecoming of leaders entrusted with public welfare.

The Omoh Foundation CEO dismissed the attacks as desperate political tactics by leaders whose influence, he claimed, was waning on the ground. He argued that the statements were aimed at discrediting his rising profile and the impact of his housing advocacy and urban renewal initiatives within Kibra.

Okach reaffirmed that Omoh Foundation is a legally registered organization operating transparently and within the law, noting that its work in housing advocacy, community empowerment and urban renewal is well documented and has benefited hundreds of families who had long been neglected.

“It is regrettable that instead of engaging in constructive dialogue on housing insecurity, forced evictions, unemployment and youth marginalization, some politicians have chosen to weaponize national celebrations to spread falsehoods and settle political scores,” he said.

Positioning himself as a voice for the urban poor, Okach vowed not to be intimidated or silenced by smear campaigns, insisting that he would continue championing the rights and dignity of Kibra residents.

“I will not be distracted by name-calling. I remain committed to speaking truth to power and ensuring that the voices of the poor and marginalized are heard,” he stated.

Okach further called on leaders of goodwill to rise above petty politics and work together to address the pressing challenges facing Kibera, saying the constituency deserves solutions, accountable leadership and meaningful development rather than insults and empty rhetoric.

The statement comes amid heightened political activity in Kibra, where Okach is increasingly being viewed as a key contender in the race for the parliamentary seat.
