Parklands Residents Association has moved to the Court of Appeal seeking orders to stop what it terms as widespread illegal constructions in Parklands and its surrounding neighbourhoods.
In an application filed under Civil Appeal (Application) No. E990 of 2025, the residents claim that most of the ongoing developments in the area are unlawful and have been approved irregularly. The application has been filed by city lawyer Alfred Njeru Ndambiri on behalf of the association.
According to the court papers, the residents want the Court of Appeal to issue temporary and mandatory injunctions restraining the Nairobi City County Government, its agencies, and more than 100 interested parties from approving, continuing, or undertaking any construction works in Parklands until the matter is heard and determined.
The association lists several locations said to be affected by the disputed developments. They include Parklands Road, Ojijo Road, Prof. Wangari Maathai Road, part of Murang’a Road, Limuru Road, Eldama Ravine Road, Ring Road Parklands, and sections near Mathare River and Gitathuru River.
Lawyer Ndambiri argues that the constructions are irregular and risk causing confusion in the planning and development of the neighbourhood. He says urgent intervention by the Court of Appeal is necessary to prevent further approvals and ongoing construction activities.
