SGA Security Wins Global Responsible Security Award from ICoCA

SGA Security has been recognized globally for its commitment to ethical and responsible private security practices after winning the Private Security Company (PSC) Member Award at the 2025 Responsible Security Awards presented by (ICoCA).

The award acknowledges the company’s contribution to advancing responsible security standards across East Africa and its alignment with Goal 3 — Just Transition — under ICoCA’s strategic plan.

The recognition comes at a time when the global private security sector is facing increased scrutiny, with governments, corporations and civil society calling for greater accountability, respect for human rights and transparency in security operations. Industry players are increasingly expected to demonstrate measurable commitment to ethical practices and sustainable impact.

Speaking after receiving the award, SGA Security Group CEO and Chairman reaffirmed the company’s dedication to responsible service delivery anchored on professionalism, discipline and respect for human rights.

The recognition also highlights the company’s recent collaboration with , where more than 150 SGA security officers had been deployed to provide security services at the firm’s 1,600-hectare mining site in Kwale County.

Following the cessation of mining operations at the site, SGA Security implemented a transition support programme for its officers. The initiative included financial literacy training, mentorship and reskilling programmes designed to help officers adapt to the changing employment landscape.

The company said the initiative reflects its commitment to ICoCA standards that emphasize respect for human rights and responsible business conduct.

SGA Security also maintains a comprehensive training framework for its officers, including modules on human rights education, international humanitarian law, conflict de-escalation and professional conduct in line with ICoCA guidelines. Officers also participate in continuous refresher courses and leadership development programmes aimed at strengthening professionalism across the workforce.

According to , Communications Officer at the International Code of Conduct Association, the award recognizes companies that demonstrate leadership in responsible private security.

“This recognition celebrates your outstanding contribution to the private security sector and your commitment to the highest standards of accountability, transparency and responsible business practices,” she said.

Winning the award further cements SGA Security’s reputation as a regional benchmark for ethical security services while highlighting its focus on inclusive, accountable and community-centered security operations across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
