StarTimes Solar and Kimisitu DT Sacco have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting green energy solutions in Kenya.
The signing ceremony, held at Kimisitu DT Sacco offices in Nairobi, brought together officials from both organizations, marking a significant step towards accelerating the adoption of renewable energy in the country.
Speaking during the event, Carter Luo, Chief Executive Officer of StarTimes, highlighted the importance of the partnership in addressing energy needs sustainably.
“This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing affordable and reliable solar energy solutions to households and businesses. Together with Kimisitu DT Sacco, we aim to empower communities to embrace green energy and reduce their carbon footprint,” he said.
He noted that this partnership not only reflects a shared vision for environmental sustainability but also underscores the growing importance of private-private collaborations in addressing climate change challenges.
Lwanga Mbeche, Chief Executive of Kimisitu DT Sacco, echoed Luo’s sentiments, emphasizing the Sacco’s dedication to fostering environmentally conscious initiatives.
“As a financial institution, we understand the critical role we play in driving access to clean energy. This partnership with StarTimes Solar will enable our members to benefit from innovative, eco-friendly energy solutions while promoting sustainable development,” Mbeche stated.
He noted that the initiative will roll out in phases, starting with product financing options to make solar energy systems accessible to a broader population, particularly in underserved areas.
This initiative is expected to enhance energy access, particularly for underserved households and small businesses, while contributing to Kenya’s green energy targets.
