Clergy leader and independent presidential aspirant Stephen Owoko has stepped up his campaign for the 2027 General Election, unveiling an ambitious nationwide strategy, a proposed cabinet lineup, and a five-point manifesto aimed at reshaping Kenya’s economic and social landscape.
Owoko, who hails from the Nyanza region, says he has already toured more than 40 counties in a grassroots-driven campaign that seeks to position him as a credible alternative to Kenya’s established political class.
Framing himself as a leader grounded in integrity and service, the cleric has consistently told supporters he is running “not with money or helicopters,” but with a vision anchored in ethical leadership and practical solutions.
In a move rarely seen this early in Kenya’s electoral cycle, Owoko has also announced a “ready cabinet” composed of professionals he says were selected based on competence and integrity.
According to his campaign team, the decision is meant to signal preparedness and transparency, while assuring voters of a smooth transition should he win the presidency.
At the core of his bid is a five-point manifesto that addresses key concerns among Kenyans, particularly the rising cost of living and youth unemployment.
The plan includes the creation of five million jobs annually through industrial expansion, the introduction of free universal healthcare, and free education from primary school through university level.
Owoko is also advocating for aggressive debt restructuring to steer the country toward what he describes as a “debt-free Kenya,” alongside a broader push for industrialisation to transform the nation into a regional economic powerhouse.
