When Chief Justice Martha Koome assumed office, many believed she would be the first successful female Chief Justice in the country.
However, her tenure has been marked by controversy and challenges that now threatens her leadership.
Now, Koome finds herself isolated, as both the government and the opposition appears to have turned against her. Sources indicate that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), which she chairs, is compromised, with most commissioners allegedly working towards her removal.
Those that we conducted for a commend are yet to comment on the matter.
Additionally, the Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA), which could have been her shield, is inactive and largely ineffective. Reports suggest that senior officials within the association were alledly bribed to abandon her, leaving her defenseless against the growing attacks.
The previous leadership was more coherent, cohesive and vibrant. The current is clueless and unable to articulate issues. Their SG recently embarrassed everyone on live TV if the current viral clip is something to go by.
” The CJ has no where to go , the Judiciary service Commission is completely compromised by both the state and the opposition, although he is the chair of the commission, most commissioners want her out,” Our investigation show.
“Officials of KMJA, just like those in the JSC, were bribed and have been instructed to facilitate her removal. She has no one left to defend her.” a prominent city advocate revealed .
Lawyer Nelson Havi early today made a funny post questioning KMJA’s Silence.
Nelson Havi has confirmed that the KMJA will never come to her aid with a funny facebook post.
” Why is KMJA quiet? We want vayolance. We do not want peace!” Said Havi.
Ironically, Koome’s tenure at the JSC has been tainted by allegations of corruption and bribery, with claims that appointments within the Judiciary often require one to “part with something small.” Now, as the forces against her close in, it appears that the very system she presided over may be the one that ultimately brings her downfall.
“She was unqualified for the job. She has been unable to settle in the office. Her advisors are a problem too,” Quipped one elderly Judge.
