BIC Inspires 50,000 Kenyan Youth During National Exams in Drive to Uplift Education

Initiative Eases Pressure on Parents and Learners During the Exam Season

BIC, a world leader in stationery, lighters, and shavers, has successfully concluded a nationwide campaign aimed at encouraging and inspiring students during the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

The initiative reached 50,000 students across seven regions in Kenya, providing them with motivational support, essential writing tools, and words of encouragement to help them excel during this critical academic period.

Speaking during the campaign, Paloma Lengema, General Manager, BIC East Africa, emphasized the company’s long-standing commitment to education:

“Since its inception, BIC products have been a companion for students in their learning journey, including during exams. National examinations represent a defining moment for young Kenyans, and we want them to know they have our support during this period and beyond.

We are committed to supporting learners as they embark on their educational journey and to playing our part as a leading global stationery brand. Education is part of our DNA — it is the foundation for progress, development, and a more prosperous future. Our collaboration with schools during this examination period is a testament to our commitment to the Kenyan youth and community.”

As part of the campaign, students received school supplies designed to last throughout the exam season, as well as personalized success cards featuring motivational messages to uplift their confidence and morale.

The initiative also sought to ease the emotional and financial pressure on parents and caregivers, demonstrating BIC’s belief in shared responsibility in supporting education and well-being during the high-stress exam period.

This effort forms part of BIC’s global sustainability program, “Writing the Future Together,” through which the company has pledged to improve learning conditions for 250 million students by 2025.

The campaign also coincides with the 75th anniversary of the iconic BIC Cristal ballpoint pen, a product that has played a historic role in democratizing education by making quality writing tools accessible and affordable to millions worldwide.

In Kenya, BIC continues to champion education through long-term initiatives such as “Buy Me and BIC Will Donate a Pen” and “Express Myself with My BIC Pen” — programs that have collectively reached hundreds of teachers and nearly 80,000 students to date.
