Eastern Produce Kenya Hands Over Final Batch of STEM Labs in Nandi County

Eastern Produce Kenya (EPK) is making a tangible impact on education in Nandi County, having completed the final phase of its Junior Secondary School (JSS) science laboratories initiative.

The move fulfills EPK’s 2025 commitment to advancing STEM education under the Competency-Based Curriculum, with plans to extend the programme into 2026.

The newly established labs are designed to give students hands-on experience, bridging the gap between theory and practice in science education. By aligning the facilities with Ministry of Education standards, the programme ensures that learners acquire practical skills that will prepare them for future careers in STEM fields.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Nandi County Director of Education, Mr. Harrison Muriuki, praised the collaboration.

“Partnerships between the private sector and education stakeholders are vital, not only in expanding access to quality STEM learning, but also in equipping learners with the skills and competencies needed to seize future opportunities.”

EPK’s work has been done in close collaboration with curriculum experts, local education leaders, and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), ensuring that the labs meet both national curriculum requirements and the practical learning needs of students.

Since the programme began, EPK has invested over Kshs 33 million, completing 21 science labs and 1 IT lab, significantly increasing access to quality STEM education—particularly in rural areas where resources are limited.

The initiative demonstrates EPK’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable educational development in its communities.
