Likuyani MP aspirant Clause Masika says residents have been neglected for too long

Likuyani MP aspirant Clause Masika has said residents of Likuyani Constituency have been neglected for too long, calling for a leadership approach that puts the needs and concerns of the wider community at the centre of development.

Masika said leaders should pay greater attention to ordinary residents instead of concentrating their activities around wealthy and influential members of society.

“The people in Likuyani Constituency have been neglected for long. Even the rich only attend events for the rich, while ordinary residents continue to struggle,” Masika said.

He said leaders should regularly visit villages and engage residents directly to understand the challenges affecting families across the constituency.

According to Masika, issues including unemployment among young people, poverty and limited economic opportunities require greater attention from leaders.

“Leadership should not only be seen where the rich gather. We must go to the people, sit with them, listen to their problems and work together to find solutions,” he said.

The MP aspirant said every resident deserves to be treated with dignity and given an opportunity to participate in conversations about the development of Likuyani.

Masika said meaningful engagement with residents would enable leaders to better understand the challenges facing different communities and identify practical ways of addressing them.

“People want leaders who can listen to them and understand what they go through every day. Every resident should have a voice in matters concerning the development of Likuyani,” he said.

Masika has intensified his engagements with residents as political activity gathers momentum ahead of the 2027 General Election.

He said his engagements would continue to focus on meeting residents, listening to their concerns and discussing issues affecting their livelihoods.

“We need leadership that understands the struggles of the people and gives everyone a voice, regardless of their social or economic status,” Masika said.
