UDA’s Quiet Push for Kibra Power: The High-Stakes Hunt for the CEO Signature

BY ABRAHAM KUTWA

A quiet but intense political operation is unfolding in Kibra, as allies of President William Ruto ramp up efforts to bring the influential “Kibra CEO” into the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) fold.

What appears on the surface to be a routine recruitment is, in reality, a calculated move targeting one of the most influential emerging figures in the constituency.

The CEO, known for strong grassroots networks and appeal among youth and business circles, is increasingly being viewed as a potential game-changer in Kibra politics.

The push comes amid a growing standoff between UDA and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) over zoning, a dispute that has exposed deep political tensions and competing interests in the area.

With neither side willing to уступ ground, Kibra is fast becoming a focal point in the broader struggle for control of Nairobi’s political landscape.

Sources indicate that a closed-door meeting took place involving key allies of the President and individuals close to the CEO.

The discussions reportedly focused on a possible political partnership, with UDA keen on having the CEO run on its ticket.

“Yes, it’s true we had a candid discussion that had the blessing of the CEO on a possible political partnership. We are yet to agree on the terms, but there is significant progress,” said one of the President’s allies familiar with the talks.
Despite the momentum, the CEO has yet to commit.

Those close to him say he is carefully weighing his options, aware of both the opportunities and the risks that come with aligning himself with UDA. Kibra has long been considered an ODM stronghold, and any shift in allegiance could have far-reaching political consequences.

Behind the scenes, consultations are ongoing, with the CEO’s camp reportedly assessing the implications of the deal before making a final decision.

Political observers note that the move reflects a broader strategy by UDA to make inroads into opposition-dominated areas by courting influential local figures.

For now, attention remains fixed on the CEO’s next move. Whether he signs on or walks away could significantly shape the political direction of Kibra in the coming months.
