Nicholus Okach Ondego, popularly known as the Kibra CEO, is among a select group of dignitaries representing Kenya at a high-level International Labour Organization (ILO) forum in the Netherlands after reportedly being personally selected by President William Ruto.
According to sources familiar with the delegation, President Ruto identified Okach as one of the individuals best placed to represent the country’s interests due to his involvement in youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and community development initiatives.
The prestigious international gathering has attracted government officials, labour leaders, investors, policymakers, and development partners from across the world to deliberate on employment creation, labour rights, innovation, and sustainable economic growth.
Okach’s participation has generated significant attention among his supporters, who view the appointment as a strong vote of confidence from the Head of State.
The Kibra-based businessman and community mobilizer has built a reputation through initiatives aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs, promoting economic inclusion, and mentoring youth.
Speaking during the forum, Okach expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent Kenya on the international stage.
“I am honoured by the confidence that President William Ruto has shown in me by selecting me to be part of this important delegation. I will use this opportunity to champion the interests of Kenyan youth, entrepreneurs, and workers while seeking partnerships that can contribute to our country’s growth,” he said.
The Kenyan delegation is expected to engage with international stakeholders on a range of issues, including job creation, workforce development, technology-driven employment opportunities, and strategies for strengthening labour institutions.
Analysts have noted that the inclusion of grassroots leaders and private sector representatives in international forums reflects a growing effort by the government to broaden participation in policy discussions and development partnerships.
For many observers, Okach’s presence at the ILO forum underscores his rising profile within national leadership circles.
His supporters argue that his journey from community activism to representing Kenya at a global platform demonstrates the increasing recognition of leaders who have made an impact at the grassroots level.
The Netherlands meeting comes as Kenya continues to pursue international partnerships aimed at expanding employment opportunities and attracting investment to support economic growth.
As deliberations continue, members of the delegation are expected to hold bilateral meetings with development partners and investors, with the aim of securing collaborations that will benefit Kenyan workers, businesses, and young people seeking opportunities in an increasingly competitive global economy.
The forum is expected to conclude later this week with recommendations focused on promoting decent work, inclusive growth, and stronger labour markets worldwide.
