Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has launched construction works on the Muthure–Njathaini road in Kabete Constituency, as part of a Sh330 million road network project aimed at improving transport and connectivity in the area.
Kindiki launched the works on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, in Muthure, Kiambu County, highlighting the government’s ongoing investment in road infrastructure to support businesses, improve access to essential services and open up local communities.
The Muthure–Njathaini road is among several routes being upgraded under the programme, which also covers Kanyariri–Muthure, including access roads to ACK and SDA Muthure churches.
Other roads listed under the project include Ngure ACK–Gitaru–Kanyariri–Ndumbu-ini, Green Belt–Mbari ya Njau, Motego–Gitaru and St Anne Catholic–Kaburini.

The projects are expected to improve movement within Kabete and strengthen connections between residential areas, commercial centres and public institutions.
Kindiki also outlined broader road development plans across Kiambu County, saying 1,285 kilometres of roads had been prioritised for tarmacking at a cost of Sh152 billion.
Of the targeted network, 368 kilometres had already been tarmacked at a cost of Sh20 billion, according to the Deputy President.
At the national level, Kindiki highlighted several major highway projects, including the conversion of the Rironi–Mau Summit Highway into a four-lane road, with some sections being expanded to six lanes.

He further said the contract for the dualling of the Muthaiga Roundabout–Kiambu Road had been signed, with construction expected to commence soon.
Meanwhile, the design of the proposed Thika Town–Nairobi Expressway was ongoing, according to the Deputy President.
The planned infrastructure investments form part of the government’s wider agenda to improve transport networks, reduce travel challenges and support economic activity across the country.
“Kenya’s transformation to first world economic status within a single generation is underway,” Kindiki said.
The projects are expected to improve connectivity for residents and businesses, although their overall impact will depend on timely implementation, completion and maintenance of the upgraded roads.
